Here’s Where to Celebrate the Fourth of July in Raleigh

  • The 25th Annual Historic Independence Day Open House – July 4th, 2016 (from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Joel Lane Museum House located at 160 S. Saint Mary’s Street, Raleigh, NC.) This is a celebration honoring the “The Birthplace of Raleigh” and Colonel Joel Lane, who was a founding father of the city and in office during the Revolutionary War. In addition to touring the museum, the grounds and the beautiful gardens, visitors can soak up the history and learn about the era through demonstrations of old time crafts. Guests of all ages are invited, and admission is free.
  • The ‘Works – July 4th, 2016 (from noon through 11 p.m. on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, NC.) This is the official City of Raleigh Fourth of July fireworks celebration and it is slated to be even more spectacular than last year. The day begins with fun for all ages, including live music, delicious food, a beer and wine tent, street performers, contests  and exciting games and rides for the youngsters. The day’s finale will be a breathtaking display of fireworks guaranteed to light up the sky over the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Admission is free.
